Canteen donations

Want to help out but don’t have a lot of time? The SSC runs a canteen on Wednesday evenings so that cadets can purchase snacks and drinks during the long break, with proceeds going to the squadron. If any parents would like to donate items to the canteen, we’d be more than happy to accept them! Our usual selection includes chocolate bars (full or snack size), individual bags of chips, pop, Gatorade, juice boxes, and candy (like Skittles, gummies, Sour Patch – Mike & Ike’s are really popular!) You can bring in items to the SSC table on Wednesday evenings. Please email 872.chairperson@cadetsair.ca if you have any questions.

(And yes, we’ve tried including healthier options, but for some reason they just don’t sell…)

Join our team!

We’re always happy to welcome new volunteers to the committee! By the end of this cadet year, we’d like to have a volunteer in place as backup for each of the major events run by the SSC – spaghetti dinner, community engagement (tagging), and various fundraisers – as well as for each of the major jobs within the committee, like screening and facilities. If you’re interested, please see Susan at the SSC table or email her. And if you’ve noted your interest in one of these areas on your parent information form, Susan will be emailing you.

Food allergy forms

A reminder to all parents that we need a completed food allergy form for all cadets, both new and returning. If you haven’t filled one out for your cadet this year, please pick up a copy at the SSC table on Wednesday nights. You can also get a copy of the parent information form or donation form if you haven’t completed them yet.

The 872 Clothing Store is OPEN

There are two types of clothing items on the store: the older items which we have in stock and the newer items which need to be ordered in. You may order any of these products at any time.

The older items will take one to two weeks. You will be notified when they are ready for pick up.

The new hoodies and t-shirts will be ordered in at the end of each month and will be ready by the middle of the following month. You will be notified when they are ready for pick up.

Pick up will be on Wednesday parade nights at AY Jackson after you have been notified.

You can purchase a 50/50 ticket and directly support 872 Squadron at the 50/50 site. Tickets are 10 for $10 | 40 for $20 | 100 for $40.

With a guaranteed monthly jackpot of $1,000, you could be the next winner!

The Air Cadet monthly raffle is a great way to support the development of local youth and a chance to WIN BIG – past winners have won over $25,000!

Every dollar raised helps our youth soar to new heights. Thank you for your support!

Fundraising with Flipgive

This season, fundraising for 872 Kiwanis-Kanata Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron is going to be so much easier with FlipGive, a free fundraising app.

872 earns cash back on every purchase you make all year long! All you have to do is shop any time with the brands you already love, like Home Depot, Walmart, Sport Chek, Indigo, Old Navy, Apple, Esso, and Loblaws. It’s completely virtual and contactless.

There are three great ways you can help support 872 with FlipGive by spending money you would have spent anyway:

  1. Buy gift certificates for friends and family as gifts for Christmas, birthdays and more. Among others, right now Indigo is offering 6% back, and the ultimate restaurant gift card is offering 10% back for our squadron for a limited time.

  1. Buy gift certificates for your everyday purchases from companies like Loblaws, Sobeys, Esso and restaurants and use them to pay for groceries, gas and dinners out. For instance, a $250 gift certificate for Sobeys earns $6.25 for the squadron for groceries you would have bought anyway! And the gift certificates are sent directly to your email almost immediately, so no worries about picking up/being shipped physical cards!

  1. Purchase many items directly in app and get percentages back for our squadron for actual purchases.

There is so much to explore and it’s so easy to give back to your squadron through these e-gift cards for use for your purchases or as gifts and through direct in app purchases:

Join our fundraising team now and you’ll get a $5 bonus the first time you shop for e-gift cards:

You can also add the Flipgive app to your phone so you can use Flipgive on the go:

Please share these links with friends and family! The more people who use our Flipgive code, the more funds go directly to our squadron to help our cadets have an excellent experience.
