AIR CADET SUMMER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Quota Camps (Summer Camps)

Summer camps also known as Quota camps are very popular amongst cadets. The Regional Training Courses are attended by cadets across Canada. This is a perfect opportunity for them to travel, make friends and discover an entirely different way of life! Cadets learn to manage their time and become more responsible, under the supervision of Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC) officers specifically trained to work with teenagers.

Every year, we have more applications for quota camps than camps allocated to the squadron. Therefore, the recommendation by the CO is based on the Squadron matrix in accordance to the following table:

Matrix
Awards 10%
Qualifications 15%
Previous summer camps 10%
Training 25%
Mandatory attendance 25%
Optional attendance 15%
Total 100%

The selection process usually takes place in January. Cadets who are not selected will be placed on a waiting list. Application submissions will be done via the sign up genius post, each cadet can select up to three choices.  Cadet can also indicate on their application if they are interested in attending a summer course other than his/her three choices, depending on camp quotas. This will help us to maximize all the camp positions assigned to the squadron.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Only one application will be allowed by cadet in the sign up genius post. If a cadet has 2 applications, one will be deleted without notice.

Cadets selected will be notified in early May. At that time, cadets will receive a camp offer that needs to be signed by the cadet and one parent/guardian. The original camp offer is to be returned to the Office by the due date (TBA). Failure to return the camp offer signed by the due date (TBA) will ensue in the camp to be offered to the next cadet on the merit list.

Parents requiring additional information may speak with any squadron staff on Wednesday evenings.
