This activity is open to all levels! 872 RCACS is planning to conduct Power Familiarization Flying on Saturday 7 March 2020:

§  24 Cadets in Shift 1 – 1000-1300hrs

§  18 Cadets in Shift 2 – 1330-1600hrs

§  Only one sign-up per cadet

This activity involves taking cadets for a flight over the local area in a 4-seater, Cessna 172 aircraft, departing from Carp Airport (off of March Road). Cadets are to provide their own means of transportation to and from the Carp Airport as no buses will be provided. There is no cost for this activity. Cadets are to attend in appropriate winter attire; this includes appropriate winter jacket, gloves, hat and footwear.  The pilot may refuse to allow cadets to go flying who (in their opinion) are not properly dressed. Cadets are encouraged to bring cameras/cell phone cameras. (Parents are not eligible to participate)

Upon arrival, cadets are to report to the 872 RCACS staff who will be present. In order to schedule flights, the staff will confirm each cadets’ weight. At the appropriate time, cadets will be escorted to and from the aircraft by staff. The staff member(s) will assist with boarding and securely fastening the cadets’ seat belts.

Cadets will have access to a classroom while at Carp airport, where they can relax, study, and chat. Cadets are encouraged to bring an activity to entertain themselves, such as board games or cards. There is no restaurant at the airport, however there are a few coin-operated vending machines.  There is drinking water available, however cadets must bring their own water bottles.

Should this activity be cancelled, there will be other dates for power familiarization flying throughout the 2019/2020 training year.

NOTE: Cancellation of this activity may occur depending on weather forecasts up to the scheduled date, and the weather on the actual day. Cancellation information will be announced on the 872 RCACS website and Facebook by 0830hrs on 7 March 2020.
