Staff Announcements for the week of Nov. 10th

REMEMBRANCE DAY

872 has the opportunity to participate in the Kanata Remembrance Day parade on November 11.

Cadet will be meeting at 1015 in the parking lot of the Russian Orthodox Church of Blessed St. Xenis at 2 Colchester Square. We will be marching to the Cenotaph in Village Green Memorial Park.

As this is a school day, cadets will need permission to attend.

Blue uniforms only. If you do not have blue uniforms, please wear weather appropriate clothing.

TRIP TO MONTREAL COSMODOME – POSTPONED

We have had to postpone our trip to the Cosmodome on 12 November.
 
We will be going in the new year. To those who signed up, you will be the priority when we ask for signups again.

Biathlon Practice, 12 Nov, Kanata Legion (70 Hines Rd) 0900-1100

The 872 Sqn Angry Unicorns biathlon team will be having its next practice.
This practice is open to ALL LEVELS (both returning and new team members)
 
ELIGIBILITY: If you can run 2Km without stopping and have no medical restrictions that stop you from handling a firearm, you can participate.
This practice will include air rifle marksmanship (please answer the question on the signup website about the Air Rifle Handling training)
 
DATE: Saturday 12 Nov 2022
TIME: 0900-1100
LOCATION: Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 638, Kanata, (see map)

Cadets should be dressed in layers appropriate for running and other exercise and have their own supply of water.
Cadets should also be prepared to run continuously for up to 2km at a time.

Parents Night

Wednesday Nov. 16th at 7pm, A. Y. Jackson Secondary School Cafeteria

All parents are invited to this “open house” event.  If your child just joined the Squadron, you don’t want to miss it!

A lot of useful information will be provided, and both Staff and SSC
members will be available to answer your questions.

Cadets will talk about their experiences, and if possible perform a demonstration.

The Ottawa area is putting on a weekend of leadership activities, both theoretical and hands-on, for level 3s and 4s.
It is a great opportunity to learn new things, participate in some fun activities, and meet peers from other squadrons.

We will be holding Merit Review Boards for WO2s who wish to be considered for WO1. They will be taking place the week of 23 November and are a mandatory component of the process to be promoted.
