SUPPLY

A uniform is an outward symbol of commitment, identity, and ethos.

Coupled with overall appearance, the uniform is the most powerful visual expression of pride by the individual and is the primary means by which the public image of the Cadet Program is fashioned. Uniforms identify all cadets as members of a cohesive and national youth organization

872 Cadets wear their uniforms on a weekly basis and are expected to maintain and care for them at all times. The squadron provides all new cadets with the skills needed to tie a tie knot, iron tunics and trousers, and polish boots to a mirror shine.

Each cadet is provided with two distinct uniforms at their time of enrolment in the squadron, these are the green Field Training Uniform (FTU) and the blue Distinct Environmental Uniform (DEU). In addition to the basic uniforms, each cadet also receives cold weather clothing in the form of gloves, toque and a parka with a removable fleece lining.

For spiritual and religious reasons, cadets may be issued with certain religious coverings and headdress that include long sleeve shirts, skirts, hijabs and turbans. These items are usually available at squadron supply in the approved colours for wear with both issued air cadet uniforms.

872 Squadron has a Supply Officer (Sup O) and a small number of cadet Supply NCO’s on staff throughout the training year. The squadron holds supply nights regularly at our supply site, located at Dymon Storage in Kanata and are happy to assist cadets with their uniform needs including measurements and proper fitting of items.

All uniform items issued to Cadets are loaned to them at no cost. Cadets are expected to take good care of their uniforms and wear them in accordance with Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers Group (CJCR Gp) Dress instructions. Uniform items must be returned to the squadron when they no longer fit or are damaged on an exchange basis. Additionally, at the time a cadet leaves the program all issued uniform items must be returned to Supply.
