The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC)
The 872 Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) is maintained by a dedicated group of adult volunteers predominantly made up of parents/guardians of cadets and community members.
The Sponsoring Committee maintains a strong partnership with the Squadron officer cadre providing support and resources where necessary to help deliver a fun and exciting training year.
Although by no means exhaustive, a list of regular SSC duties include:
- promoting the activities of the squadron to the community;
- fundraising and managing funds for activities not supported financially by the Department of National Defence;
- supports honours, awards and recognition initiatives as appropriate;
- providing accommodation for cadet training and activities when not available from DND for local training exercises;
- providing transport when not available from DND for local training exercises;
- screening and registering all volunteers in accordance with the Air Cadet League (ACL) policies.
SSC meetings normally occur at AY Jackson High School on the second Wednesday of each month throughout the training year and are open to all. Check the squadron calendar for details.
The SSC always welcomes new volunteers! Learn more how you can get involved by stopping in at the SSC desk on regular training nights or contacting the SSC Chairperson at: 872.chairperson@cadetsair.ca
